Day 2

On this, our second day of Willage, we were all over the place and accomplished GREAT things.  Homesteader Jared led the group in some songs while we waited for everyone to show up.  He taught us Tarzan and It's Illegal in Kentucky.  Ewan told us about a lake and community where he is from called Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.  I am not joking, this place is real.  It is also known as Lake Chaubunagungamaug.  We would like to sing It's Illegal in Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, but it is really hard to repeat!

A meeting was called in the morning to discuss how we might do things differently regarding string usage and acre choosing.  Apparently yesterday everyone just followed the leader into the woods (much like lemmings)and played cat's cradle with 800 feet of string.  It was not their intention to settle in the forest.  Today 5 people wanted to settle in the woods, 9 wanted to settle in the field and the rest were undecided.  After much discussion and further confusion, 3.5 people wanted to settle in the woods, 13 wanted to settle the field and 5 were undecided.  There were arguments about the woods being both drier and wetter.  Ultimately we set off once again to claim our land.  In the midst of more tangled strings leaders arose who ran back and forth and barked orders and GOT THIS JOB DONE!!!!!  Also, it rained around and through this time as is evidenced by the picture of Katie snuggling up to the cob oven to seek some shelter!

Since we were already SO wet, we decided to have a nice, cold swim.  Fortunately when we left the pond the sun came out, this allowed us to have lunch outside. Yay!!  The rain stayed away long enough for us to be tricked into having town meeting outside.  Then it came back.  Although meeting was wet and interrupted, we still agreed on a town name.  In the running this summer were:

  • Frankfart
  • Peepsville
  • Pepsiville
  • Peepeeville
  • Walmart
  • Villageoftheplacewhereitgotoverpopulated.......
  • Frankenfart
  • Peepfart
  • Frankeenie
  • Brainfart
  • Brainfart
  • Fart Knox
  • Fez
  • Scruffnburry
  • Um
  • Galacticville
  • Bikini Bottom
  • Leechfield
  • NH Peepville
The top three were Fez, Um and Scruffnburry.  Fez won!!  The rain stopped again.... so back to the acre we went.  This time to STAKE OUR CLAIM!!!  After signing another contract, the mad land rush was on and homesteaders dashed about to claim the perfect bit of Fez for themselves.  Primitive shelters were built, strings were tangled, more rain fell and the beginnings of  a community sprung up- just like that!

After corvee a bit of  "Is it raining" and bat and moth were enjoyed by all .

Today we liked:
  • swimming!!!!!!!!
  • getting the acre done!!!!!!
  • getting strung up
  • making primitive shelters
  • playing bat and moth
  • having lots of plusses
  • stringy part is done!
  • no more foot moss
  • got a lot done
  • lots of fun today
  • shelter and land
  • a toad led me to my primitive shelter
  • getting to know Paisley better
  • bats look SO funny when they try to catch a moth
  • wish came true- sunshine!
  • we accomplished everything!
  • rain is dog blood- at least this is what it sounded like Red said
We wish:
  • it will be sunny again tomorrow
  • to meet some peeps
  • to be here longer in August
  • it doesn't rain tomorrow
  • to play CTF tomorrow
  • to know, "Is it raining?"
  • Snart snart snart
  • to fix peep and swim again
  • bug bites weren't so itchy
  • to do good on Village tomorrow
  • for a dish of fish that is delish
  • get house down
  • for a turkey sandwich
  • primitive shelters hold up tonight
  • for a spoon and a bathing suit

Tonight is the peeps first night on the land, no one is sleeping at Rolph's tonight- I guess they did not appreciate his hospitality.
