Day 15

Week four already?!?  That can't be right!  We began this morning talking about flags and the meanings of different colors.  We also talked about deeds and how your peep is going to need a deed to their property in order to get their appraisal done.  How does a peep get a deed?   The Homestead Agreement clearly states that:
" Before receiving a Deed and Title to this land, the homesteader will do the following:
a.       Move his/her peep to the homestead where he/she will reside until the end of Village ’13.
b.      Establish property corner markers.
c.       Build a primitive shelter to house peep until the homesteader constructs a permanent structure.
d.      Present a survey map of the property to the Commissioners.
e.       Commence to improve the property and act as a faithful homesteader and good citizen in the miniature community of Village ’13."
The other hot topic of the morning was the goal to have all houses finished by Wednesday!!!

The select peeps had a meeting.  It was called to order at 1:24pm, the agenda: secretary and moderator positions; taxes.

Jim- "So secretary and moderator?"
Summer- "Could we fire them both?"
Sarah- "Where are they?"
[bench falls over, squeals about earwigs, giggles, bench falls again; everyone moves]
Jim- "We have three options: fire both, fire one or the other, or keep them the same."
Summer- "We won't need a new moderator because Jim moderates all of our meetings.  What do you have to say Gramma?"
Gramma- "I think no, I mean yes.  We should fire them."
Jim- "Ready to vote?"
two yays to fire them, one abstains
Jim- "Who will the new secretary and moderator be?"
Sarah clears her throat very loudly several times and point to the notes that Rolph and I are taking.
Summer points out that my notes are for the blog.
Jim suggests that he and no one else be the moderator.
Sarah- "I have a suggestion for a person who down things: Emily Applebottom."
Summer- "Then she would put everything in the newspaper.  We don't want anyone new spying on our meetings and Jim can't be moderator because then he can't vote.  How about no moderator?"
vote: 3 yays for no moderator
Jim- "For secretary, Emily or none? Let's vote."
Rolph- "The moderator calls for the vote."
[the meeting is silent, there is no moderator]
chickens come to lunch
Summer- "Sarah would you like to volunteer to moderate?"
Jim call for a another vote on the moderator- Jim, Sarah, or none.  Sarah and Jim each get one vote.
[there is mumbling about whether or not Sarah should be paid because she did "volunteer"]
Jim- "Okay, it's narrowed down to Sarah and Jim.  None had none."
Jim gets two votes and Sarah gets one.
Summer- "The thing is, you can't vote."
Jim- "There are special terms, being a select peep I can still vote and moderate.  So, secretary:  Emily or none?"
Emily gets zero votes and None gets one vote, we officially have no secretary either.
Moving along to taxes:
Jim- "Taxes are 50 FF every week."
Gramma- "Do we pay the taxes?"
Summer- "Yes, but then we get the money back."
Jim- "50 FF each week to pay for our fabulousness.  Should we keep the taxes the same?"
Gramma and Summer- "Yes."
Summer- "Do you think the banker has collected the fish fingers?"
Jim- "We could fire the banker."
Summer- "We could get someone at the bank to get the fish fingers, let's see, who;s on our side?"
Discussion evolves from simply asking the banker to collect the taxes, to finding a shady banker to collect the taxes, to billing the bank directly, to robbing the bank.
Jim- "Vote?"
Summer- "Options?"
Jim- "hire somebody, bill the bank or rob the bank."
Summer to Jim- "You're the mint person, can you get the fish fingers?"
working on mini fair attractions
Jim- "I make the fish fingers, I cannot get them."
vote: 2 for hire, 1 for bill, 0 for rob
Jim- "So we are hiring someone to basically rob the bank."
Summer- "We should pay them, they will probably get fired."
Sarah- "Find out who's on our side and choose one of them."
Jim- "That's segregation.  Okay, we have G'lant and Zach."
Summer- "JohnB or Jeff."
Jim- "I think we should bill the bank and if they don't pay then we hire someone to rob the bank."
Summer- "I'd rather just rob them."
Sarah suggests herself as the robber.
making furniture
Summer- "We'll pick somebody and they'll be like, 'Hey, can I work at the bank?'  Let's pick two peeps and not pay them."
Between G'lant, Zach, Emily, Jeff, Sarah, and JohnB; JohnB and Sarah get the most votes.
Jim- "JohnB and Sarah are going to be the two robbers.  Is that it?"
Summer- "I'll ask JohnB if he wants to do it."
meeting adjourns at 1:47

convincing JohnB to apply for a job at the bank
After beZerk #2 we discussed the flag some more.  Several homesteaders brought examples that they drew or made out of fabric.  There were a lot of great choices.  Many of them had black and purple for royalty and power; several had yellow for ope ("..hope that this government business will be over soon"), others featured red for revolution.  The winning flag looks like a thick black "T" turned on its side with red above and purple below.

After our meeting we did some trust activities!!  We did over the wall, no hand stands, and untangle the knot!
trust activities!

"We did it!!!"

Today we liked:
  • setting a fast record for over the wall
  • lifting over the wall
  • the trust activities
  • getting a 2 minute 47 second record
  • the knot
  • figuring out the knot (aka acre string!)
  • doing the knot wrong
  • house cut out
  • the entire day!
  • the whole day!!
  • almost finished house
  • great energy singing in the morning
  • finished mini fair attraction
  • got main frame of house done
  • getting mini fair attractions ready
  • XXXX xx for the mini fair!
We wish:
  • to go over the wall again
  • to get closer to goal
  • to go swimming
  • to have another go at over the wall and beat the record
  • the weather were like this everyday!
  • to not go over the wall
  • for icecream
  • for cookies and rainbows
  • swimming was longer
  • people would take advantage of the suggestions of others
